Birthday celebration for FiA

In July this year I received a message on Twitter from Sally Prosser of My Custard Pie to join an “informal and fun group of over 40 food bloggers in the UAE”.  The group, called Fooderati Arabia or FiA, was started by Sally Prosser (My Custard Pie) and Arva Ahmed (I live in a frying pan) with an idea to bring together all the food bloggers in UAE.  Having only started my blog in January, I was quite surprised that there was even a food group in the UAE.  I thought I was alone in food-blogger-sphere!  Well there was, and plenty of them too.

Out of curiosity I joined FiA, and have never looked back.  What a wonderful bunch of fun and friendly foodies, each with their own special talents.  Some are chefs, bloggers, writers, caterers, reviewers or mums and dads.  Whatever they do, they all have food in common and started blogging out of the sheer love of food and telling their stories.  I’ve had the pleasure of meeting a few of them recently and look forward to meeting the rest in the coming months.

Last month, FiA celebrated their first year by throwing a cake-a-thon.   Each of us had to bring a cake, any cake – baked, bought, borrowed, whatever.

Boy was there a lot of cake and the sugar rush lasted long after the event.  This post is my tribute to FiA and their 1st birthday – may we have many, many more delicious birthdays!
