A Mediterranean inspired life
I am South African of Greek Cypriot descent and my recipes are mostly influenced by Greek and Mediterranean cuisine. I like to use my health background to improve traditional recipes in a way that resonates with the modern cook. I am open-minded to using new ingredients in classic recipes and have learnt to trust my own pallet in cooking. I encourage you to do the same. I enjoy using local and organic produce, where available, as I believe that the quality of the ingredients you use make a huge difference both flavour and nutrition. Mediterranean cuisine is based on the principle of eating mostly local vegetables, fruits, legumes and grains, with some fresh fish, poultry or meat occasionally. It is not a diet heavy on meat, but rather focuses on what is grown locally in the region. The food is very family-friendly as children usually eat the same food as their parents and can be tailored to vegetarians and vegans.
I started out in the corporate world, working in the chemical industry and completed a Bachelor's degree in Business Management. A decade later, I left that industry for one that is more aligned to my own beliefs and a more balanced lifestyle. I now work as a freelance writer, specialising in healthy recipes for the whole family. As a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, wife and mother, I understand the dynamics of being time-limited and trying to cook nourishing meals for my family.
